Pennywise returns: Stephen King's It sequel gets release date, but will the young cast be back?

King’s original novel unfolds over two timelines, with Pennywise stalking a group of pre-teens in 1957, and then returning to menace them as adults in 1984. Unlike the novel, which jumps backwards and forwards in time, the It movies have been split into two distinct chapters and revised to occur at later dates. While the just-released movie was set in 1988, its sequel will be set 17 years later.

It’s chief screenwriter Gary Dauberman is scripting the sequel, while it is reported that Andy Muschietti is currently in negotiations to direct – presumably for a far bigger paycheck this time around.
