John Boyega says Carrie Fisher's Star Wars send-off is 'amazing'

Fisher had finished filming her scenes for The Last Jedi in late summer of last year. She died on 27 December after suffering from a medical emergency while on a flight from London to Los Angeles. She was subsequently kept in intensive care for four days on a ventilator.

Disney CEO Bob Iger had previously stated that they would not use CGI to resurrect Leia in the future, as they did with the late Peter Cushing in last year’s Rogue One.

“In Rogue One, we created digitally a few characters, one an actor that had actually passed away but had been in an earlier Star Wars film,” he said during a March talk at the Marshall School of Business. “We’re not doing that with Carrie, although technology gives the ability to do so many different things today.”
